I tried it but it doesnt work. Maybe you missed a step? I dont know, but I tried with 2 pictures.

Hmm..
Well I looked over it and did this tutorial on a image and it worked. Make sure you did it right and that your hotkeys work for Photoshop. I used 7.0 btw don't know if that would make a difference.

you should be a little bit more thourough on your directions. i am an experienced photoshop user and still a bit confused by what you are saying. so this would be a very hard tutorial for a beginner.
